El cant dels ocells (Spain)
Birdsong (2008) by Albert Serra
"flattening images, editing out volumes" - in a way, serra de-architecturalizes cinema via b/w, fog, desert dunes, minimal conversation, minimal drama, and, of course, resistant pacing: tension between movement and inertia. all this is again in contrast with the voluptuous bodies of icelandic landscapes and of the three kings....as well as the over-saturated materialization of the historically most well-known family of mary, joseph and the baby jesus. ..
An interesting juxtaposition between the two forces upon cinema. i can see the two fight..
